memento mori c/o dailystoic.com
“Remember that you too will die”.
Memento mori is one of my favorite quote. It is a practice of reflection on one’s mortality, something that I do regularly. The point is not to be morbid but as a reminder of the transient nature of life, that nothing is permanent.
It is especially useful when I find myself caught up with day-to-day emotions or the excess in life. I am merely a custodian of what I own for the future. This notion can be freeing when accepted whole-heartedly.
Reminding myself of my mortality guards me against taking for granted the limited time that I have on the planet. It drives me forward to work hard and make my dreams a reality. To make this Earth a better place than when I found it while having some fun along the way.
Seize every moment as much as possible and be at peace with every day that we get.
