Tattoo has its place in many cultures across time. It has been used to mark slaves, a symbol of honor and bond, a sign of rebellion, an expression of self and the list goes on. Growing up, I must admit to a negative perception towards tattoos, viewing those with tattoos as misguided or ‘against’ society. How limited my view points were.

My closest experience with tattoos so far is when accompanying a best friend to get his first tattoo. There was no judgement of his desires to get a tattoo, only support. At the same time however, I also thought that this is not for me and I would never get a tattoo. Luckily I didn’t swear on it or place a bet.

Lately, my interest in tattoos have significantly grown. I see tattoos as an art form that one can wear, another way of self-expression. My thoughts on tattoos, if I ever to get one, is that they should be aesthetically pleasing and each one must have a meaning to me.

I have toyed with the idea of getting one for a few years now and have now decided that one of my goals for 2018 is to get my first tattoo. I’ve got a few ideas for the first one and I’m very much looking forward to it. Watch this space for the official reveal!

Voici mon secret. Il est très simple.
On ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur.
L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.
